Looping – in the guitar sense!

Guitar Looping is an interesting concept. Lay down a rhythm, add some lead, pile on some depth – VIOLA! Sounds easy right? Personally, I own a Line6 Spider Jam and I love it’s looping. I’ve added the FBV Express and (with some pre-setting) you can control the SJ sound-on-sound looper and lay down some tunes over the backing tracks.

I know there’s a lot of loopers out there…Like the Boss RC-2, RC-20XL, and the venerable RC-50…Then there’s the DigiTech JamMan, and Line6 has the stand-alone JM4.

So I’m curios…What, if any, looper do you use?

With the decline in local music shops it is sometimes challenging for guitar players to “try before you buy” unless you want to go visit one of the big box stores. Thankfully, the power of the Internet allows us to fill in some of the blanks. Here is a great example. Boss has a cool web applet that lets you sample the sounds of their pedal line. Check it out.
